Crash Course

Call for Submissions- Edmonton Area Artists

Crash Course welcomes proposals across disciplines from women, feminine identifying, BIPOC, trans, non-binary and all people who have lived experience of misogyny. 

Crash Course is an interactive multimedia exhibition at the Crash Hotel-specifically for women, feminine identifying, BIPOC, trans, and non-binary artists working in all artistic mediums. The exhibition will explore issues of body politics, consent, the gaze, and embodiment, Artists are offered the opportunity to transform the Crash Hotel into their own space and take over ten hotel rooms. Artists will create site-specific work, transforming the rooms by offering experiences through immersive work. We are looking for artists to challenge societal constructs of gender, beauty, otherness, body image, and belonging through multimedia projects, movement/ participatory works, performance, sound art, sculpture, painting/drawing, or other media.

Tentative Date: October 15 & 16 2021. Takedown before 11:00 am on Sunday, October 17, 2021

Time: TBD 

Where: Hotel/ Motel in Edmonton AB, exact location TBD

Artist fees: $400 per individual artist 


Please submit the following items in a single PDF document:

  1. Curriculum Vitae (Limit to 3 pages)
  2. Project Proposal (500 words max.)
  3. Artist Statement (300 words max.)
  4. Include up to 5 to 10 digital images of your work in the PDF application. Alternatively, large images can be upload to online sharing sites such as Dropbox or Google Drive, etc. 
  5. Image List (Title, Medium, Size, Year)
